Bremer County Fair

My mother grew up in Bremer County and her sister and brother still farm there. My kids got to go one day with Aunt Alicia, Aunt Becca and I to see animals, be with cousins and participate in the 4H carnival. They also went back on Thursday (while Phillip whisked me away to an incredible 2 day anniversary in Pella/Des Moines that he planned full of surprises and wonderfulness)to see the animals again, play with cousins, and to participate in the Scrambles.

In the scrambles kids try to catch a chick, rabbit, pig, cow, etc. There is not one for everyone and for the bigger kids they grease up the pigs, etc. I told my mother to prepare him that he may not get one and it was okay so to prevent total disappointment! David is there in the jeans and white t-shirt scrambling for a bunny! We were prepared to buy a cage if he got one, but were praying he would not. (You remember me and the horse incident?)
Playing games for 10 cent tickets!
Picking out a prize for "doing her best" the 4H girl said :)
Digging for a "surprise"
Elizabeth did not stay behind the line where she was supposed to!
(You can tell which child I was "in charge of" as I don't have any David pictures at the carnival!)
Getting a flower painted on her face
Aunt Alicia, Elizabeth, and her flower balloon from the clown
David's balloon octopus
We also got a free car
Feeding the goats was a highlight!
He also kept trying to give some to a chicken, but the greed goats kept getting in the way
Alicia had to help as they kept trying to knock him over!
Aunt Becca and Elizabeth feeding "llama, llama mad at mama!"

The llama really wanted some food! The curly goat knocked a few kids down and was taken out shorty after the pic, but he liked Aunt Becca.
After my last fair experience with the horses, I decided to stay out of the petting zoo and my wonderful sisters took the kids! Thanks Alicia and Becca you are the best aunts ever!!

That looks like so much fun. I like David's shirt.
