Overflowing and dreams...

My heart is so full! I am so thankful for my husband, my children, family, and friends who all made my birthday such a special day! I feel very loved. I am so thankful to the Lord for all the blessings and people He has put in my life over the past 29 years. I am actually looking forward to my last year in the twenties and look forward to what God is going to teach me. I am thankful my life is not stagnant, but I feel He is continually teaching me new truths and awakening me in new ways to His love and grace.

Although I am not a person who worries about the future or regrets the past, (I do not mean this in a prideful way, I should make long term goals and not be focused on the immediate often--it is just a statement of truth) I have begun thinking about 30 things before I am 30 (inspired by my friend Sarah). However, as I only have one more year before 30, I am brainstorming 40 things before I am 40 instead:)

I have had many opportunities in my life and I truly feel blessed! I was born in South Africa, been chased by an angry elephant, scuba dived in Papua New Guinea, visited beautiful gardens in British Columbia, taught English in the Ukraine, skied in the lakes of Minnesota, snorkeled in Trunk Bay of St. John's Island, rode Space Mountain over and over at Disney World, traveled in a gondola done the waterways of Venice, patted Shamu, drank tea in Morroco, gazed at Niagra Falls "on the way" to Myrtle Beach, floated in the Dead Sea, climbed the Statue of Liberty, sang Karoke in Gibraltar, whitewater rafted down the Colorado River, watched an opera in Madrid, laughed until I wet my pants, swam in the Atlantic Ocean, married the love of my life, and pushed two beautiful babies out of my womb-- all with the Lord's help and encouragement of my parents. And these are just a few that came to mind.

I am not a dreamer in any way, so this list is very difficult for me. It is in the initial stage (only 10), and all the Lord willing of course!!

1. Go back to Africa, where I was born.

2. See a muslim friend come to understand and follow Jesus

3. Travel to Hawaii

4. Go on another cruise with my love.

5. Get back to my pre-baby weight

6. Take my kids to Disney World

7. Learn to make yummy fried chicken

8. Find a younger girl to mentor

9. Read Nancy Drew with Elizabeth and read Lord of the Rings with David

10. Attend a Broadway Musical or the Blue Man Group :)

Hey! I am lame and totally forgot!!!! I am sooo sorry- I am much better with the kids' birthdays.

Anyway, I love, love, LOVE all the things you've already done- that is an amazing list- no wonder you are having a harder time on the to-do list!

So is it okay to wish you a day late happy birthday?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :)

I love this idea! I think you can totally come up with 40 awesome things to do before you're 40. And, hello, I had no idea you were born in Africa. How cool is that?

If you ever need help with the fried chicken, let me know, it's one of my favorite dishes. :)

I never did understand how Niagra Falls was along the way to Myrtle Beach or how any of our other stops have been "along the way", but I"m grateful for all the cool places we have seen, like Yellowstone! I think being an aunt should be on your list and hopefully by the time your 40 it will be true :-)
p.s.-if your thinking about the book thing you should change state into statue :-) I just tutored spelling for two ours. sorry!
thanks for updating. miss you lots.
