I am so thankful that he loves to read! It is precious hearing him "read" books almost word for word! I am starting to wonder if he isn't a bit of a perfectionist though because if he can't remember the exact words of a book, he gets upset and won't even try or make something up! Any ideas?

You could give him a book without any words and have him make up his own story. You could probably just print out sequencing pictures from somewhere online and make your own little book.
