Harvest

My mother always does such a FANTASTIC job when we go to my Aunt Sharon's farm of finding things to educate us city kids on! This last week was no different. We were at the farm for my grandmother's funeral, but my mother managed to make sure David saw a calf be born (yanked from his mother as my cousin Natalie caught the head... she is 7), get a ride on a combine and of course time with the kitties, four wheel rides, yummy food, and fun with the cousins. I know my grandmother approved of every minute of our education! Our combine ride was at sunset and we saw at least 20 other combines and wagons within 4 miles! The sun was setting and it was a perfect Iowa fall day.

My cousin Terry, in red, is the farmer. He is Aunt Sharon and Uncle Gene's son. His daughter caught the calf. They are dairy farmers and I guess it is normal stuff for her!
My Aunt Becky flew in from Texas and it was good to spend time with her and my cousins Shawn and Sarah!
David and I smooshed into the combine.
David was completely enthralled with every minute!
The new baby calf
The mommy licking her new baby!
David and his cousin John Mason watching the cows!
Playing with the kitties with Natalie and Katie.
Of course you have to play tractors at the farm!
Yes, Elizabeth was there too!Playing on the front porch.
My cousin Shawn and his son John Mason.Think my sister and I look alike? My cousin Sarah and my cousin Shawn's wife, Jennifer

Yeah, you are your sister definitely look alike. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun, despite the sad circumstances surrounding your visit.
